Abhinav cofounded Universal Assuretech with a vision to overcome the challenges in micro insurance hugely burdened with information asymmetry. Abhinav brings in 25 years of global experience in IT and telecommunications at the top management in USA, Europe, Africa and Asia. He started off his career in the mid 90s with the advent of GSM mobile revolution. After working with mobile operators, he contributed to the institutionalization of the mobile industry to bring about the regulatory and technology standardization critical for the viability of mobile operations in various jurisdictions. Having worked extensively with Governments, regulators and multilateral institutions globally, Abhinav truly feels that an open and accessible ICT bridge between the service providers and the customers is the only solution to address the unserved and the underserved.
Ritwik Bahuguna has more than ten years of experience in agribusiness sector in India and Africa. He spent more than half a decade as advisor to various central and provincial governments (in India and Africa) in policy formulation and programme management in the agriculture, dairy and food processing sectors. He later became a dairy entrepreneur and now successfully runs his milk brand in the northern part of India. He continues to serve as advisor to some prominent Indian food brands. His Foundation (a non-governmental initiative) is working on upliftment of rural poor through skill training programs and income enhancement of farmers through training in GAP and providing them direct market access. The Foundation is currently working with 20000+ rural poor ans farmers in different parts of India. An economist by training, Ritwik has travelled extensively in the hinterlands of Asia, Europe and West Africa which makes him realize the significance and potential positive impact of tech-enabled insurance distribution, especially to the unserved and underserved.
Ken began his insurance career in Cardiff back in 1980 working as an insurance broker for a major family group that would ultimately pave the way for a distinguished international career. On moving to Dubai in 1983, he joined the HSBC Group within their regional insurance practice where he also concluded his professional exams in 1985 earning his ACII. Within a few years, he took over the helm, becoming the CEO of HSBC Insurance Brokers, Dubai and ultimately turning it into one of the most respected insurance brokers in the region. In 1999, he left HSBC and established a new Insurance Brokerage business (Insure Direct) and in 2006 completed his first M&A deal selling 90% of the operation to Istithmar World, the then Investment Arm of Dubai World. In Partnership with Dubai World, the business handled some of the most complex and substantial insurance risks of the decade including all projects developed by Nakheel, Major Real Estate and Hotel Investments across 5 Continents, as well as all manner of Oil & Gas, Ports and other Industrial Complexes. During this period, M&A activity also continued with the addition of business units in Bahrain, Qatar and Rotterdam in the Netherlands with staff numbers crossing well over 120. In 2011, he was also made a director of the World Wide Broker Network (WBN). Founded in 1989, WBN had grown from nine firms in Western Europe to more than 100 firms spanning the globe and serving clients through 500+ offices in six continents. WBN generated over $5.25 billion in P&C and employee benefits revenue annually and is ranked as one of the largest networks of independent insurance brokers in the world. In 2013 with the support of Istithmar World, Ken concluded the 100% sale of the Insure direct group of companies to the JLT Group. He continued to serve the business on the local board until finally resigning in 2016 after which he established the Refpoint Group. In 2017, he received an award for ‘Outstanding Achievement by an Individual’ at the annual MENAIR Awards recognising his achievements within the insurance industry over the past 35 years. Ken is also currently the Managing Director of RP Insurance Consultants headquartered in UAE.
Himanshu Nautiyal is the CEO and co-founder of Euler Systems Inc, an artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science start-up, that helps clients across the world to increase yield and manage risk from online assets in many sectors including insurance, fintech, ecommerce and hospitality by improvements in targeting, conversion, engagement, dynamic pricing and risk management. He is also a partner at Apeiron Securities, which aims to provide solutions for the financial needs of a diverse base of clients including corporates, traders, financial institutions and investors. He was previously a Commodities Structurer trading swaps, options, indices and exotics on commodities at Deutsche Bank and an Artificial Intelligence and Data Science leader at various Silicon Valley technology firms like Yahoo and eGain.Himanshu holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, an MS in Computer Science from University of Washington and a B.Tech. in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Carries with him more than 2 decades of global experience in the field of reinsurance and has strong networking with brokers, insurers and reinsurers globally, with specific focus on Asian countries, Middle East and North Africa, European market and Lloyd’s of London. He led the GIC RE’s operations in the Middle East and North Africa and single-handedly developed reinsurance portfolio of approx. USD 400 Mn from scratch. He has hands on experience in end to end reinsurance business – treaty, facultative, excess of loss, catastrophic loss, stop loss and ART.
